Steampunk Fashion

Steampunk followers believe that in order to fully expirience the Steampunk lifestyle, one must dress for the part. With the victorian era playing a huge role in the steampunk subculture, their fashion is often in the victorian style as well.

Steampunk Women

Women of the steampunk culture often wear coursets, dresses, tights, and boots. Dark makeup is often seen on some women, but there are also those who choose to not wear any. Some women choose to be more modest when it comes to dressing up; covering chests, wearing long dresses, etc. Others choose to wear a more scandelous outfits with short dresses and tight corsets, often revealing cleavage.

Women usually  wear darker colors and some even carry                                               weapons to add to the dark vibe that they put off. Gears                                                    and chains are key when it comes to steampunk fashion.                                                Women like to incorperate these in any way they can.

Jewlery can be added to any steampunk outfit to give it

that final touch. Women often make their own unique                                                       jewlery or purchase it online from etsy shops or other                                                       businesses that specialize in steampunk fashion.

Steampunk Men

While men still embrace the victorian style, they obviously do it in a much more masculan way. Men who dress in the steampunk style often wear vests, jackets, and  overcoats. Top hats with goggles attatched are common in men's fashion. Loose pants tucked into boots are also popular when dressing steampunk.

When dressing up, both men and women keep in mind that "steam is God." Any way they can refelct that idea in their fashion makes them look more authentic.

Many steampunkers design their own clothing using old clothing or items found at a thrift shop. For many, the designing and sewing process is one of the best parts of steampunk fashion.
